From the same interview:

“It’s all been about how I was going to present myself for this Test and whether I was in good shape to play it. I feel like both of those are crossed off.”

“The achilles injury I did suffer was a serious one and I guess it took a few boxes to be ticked for me to start playing my best cricket.”

Can anyone explain why Hayden needs to cross or tick boxes in order for him to play cricket (or as he puts it, to ‘present’ himself for a test)?

having said that, for a very brief period, ie. the 5th day of the last test vs. India, I didn’t really hate him all that much.

I half suspect that you’ll shed a tear or two when Hayden retires – I bet you love him really, and all of this bile is just a defence mechanism because you know he’d only hurt you, like all the others….
