“It’s all been about how I was going to present myself for this Test and whether I was in good shape to play it. I feel like both of those are crossed off.”

“The achilles injury I did suffer was a serious one and I guess it took a few boxes to be ticked for me to start playing my best cricket.”

Can anyone explain why Hayden needs to cross or tick boxes in order for him to play cricket (or as he puts it, to ‘present’ himself for a test)?
