Churro being conspicuously indifferent to the status of Wisden

This is Churro, the kitten we were looking after for a fortnight.

Wisdens are not battlements!

As you can see, he isn’t conspicuously indifferent to cricket, as he is using the Wisdens as a protective wall from humans who try to stop him gnawing at books. He is obviously also ruminating on the lost years 1992-1995.

He is, though, giving Ceiling Cat a run for his money.

Stand back, Ceiling Cat, the Internet has a new overlord now.

  1. He’s only giving Ceiling Cat a run for his money if one is masturbating in front of a collection of Wisdens, which if I was going to do, would not be in front of the editions covering the nineties.

  2. A reference to masturbation in a King Cricket post is unacceptable. I come here for cricket, not to feel insecure about my (lack of) sex life.

  3. chowsker – quite right. there’s no room for smut round here. keep it clean, people.

ps i can’t believe you haven’t got the 93 and 94 wisdens. as a warwickshire fan, i feel betrayed. thems was the glory years.

  4. @Bert: Er.. yes, yes, exactly. I am more upset about the flaunting of Wisdens. That’s exactly what I meant in the first place.

  5. Wisden is no stranger to full frontal nudity.

See p657 of the 2000 Almanack: Leicestershire’s team photo. Take a close look at MT Brimson. He lost his contract for that…

  6. That cat won’t catch me doing the biz.

I have people to do that for me, thank you!

  7. Oh, I misread it as “the kitten we were looking for for a fortnight”.

Naturally, in that case, you’d have assumed he would be indifferent to cricket, so it wouldn’t have occurred to you to look behind the Wisdens for at least a couple of weeks.

  8. In all this talk about wanking, we’ve forgotten to comment properly on Miriam’s tale of feline insouciance. I think it’s time to put that right, and make some comments that are more relevant to the actual story.

    Excellent shelving, Miriam. Well done.

  9. we need to know how far back the wisdens go.

when was the first one? or is that common knowledge that every self-respecting cricket fan should just know?

  10. The earliest wisden I have was a birthday present, and is from the year of my birth.

*insert your own joke about how such an early edition must be very rare*

the shelving is nice, but I would have preferred to paint it the same colour as the walls.

We don’t have that kitten anymore as the fortnight has long since passed. We have a whole new cat of our own, who I am sure will feature in Kingcricket in time.

  11. I’m wondering what the alternative to having “a whole new cat” is, and I’m not happy with what I’m thinking.
