I remember thinking, after Creepy and Hick got hundreds and England clocked up over 400, who are this shower thinking they can come over here and nick our acorns. And then…erm Murali.

There was a great bit of bants on the lock down show with Nasser, Key and Warne,(and I paraphrase) where Nasser asked Rob what was it like to face the world’s greatest spinner during that series (I assume the 2002/3 series), and RK replied “dunno, we weren’t playing Sri Lanka”.

Remember we’d just won our 1st 5 match series in 11.5 years at Headingley 2 weeks earlier.
So with confidence high, he sees a pitch reminiscent of a Colombo dustbowl in London.

That would never happen now. All nations look after themselves.

I don’t know KC, I’d need to be good at something in order to be able to relate

Why are people surprised that someone could be nervous about something they’re good at?

Not only for the general material on Murali but the specifics of the 1998 Oval test brought back lots of memories for me.

I’ll be so pumped for your feature pieces from now on, KC, I might have to throw up with excitement before I start reading them.

It’s breakfast on the KC channel. Next up: how serious a hazard is dog poo for park cricket?

I think I heard something similar about Lionel Messi as well. Maybe it’s the adrenaline rather than nerves per se?
